Database/Information Engineering Position at Boston University.
A database engineer and/or bioinformatician are needed for
a research consortium aimed to dramatically improve the quality and
coverage of functional gene annotation using computational predictions and
experimental assays.
The ideal candidates for the database engineering position would have
background in databases, web portals and/or data mining.
Background in biology or biochemistry is a plus.
However, creativity, advanced degree or other relevant prior experience
will be considered as hiring criteria.
The positions are available immediately. Salary is dependent on prior
experience and other qualifications. Please send a detailed resume and

SciBay: A New Methodology for Scientific Collaboration and Gene Function Determination
Computational Biology Research Positions
Center for Advanced Genomic Technology (CAGT)
Boston University
Creative researchers are needed for a research consortium aimed to
dramatically improve the quality and coverage of functional gene annotation.
The consortium plans to produce a large set of computational gene function
predictions using sophisticated combination of machine learning
and computational biology methodologies.
Predictions will be ranked based on their impact on biological knowledge.
The top predictions will be tested by biochemistry laboratories with the
most appropriate expertize.
Pilot projects will be granted for biologists with the most
promising bids on our top predictions.
Limited pilot grants are available for computational laboratories that
have effective methodologies that can help populate the Scibay databases
with high quality predictions.
This is a unique opportunity for computational biologists to produce high
impact on biological research via close interaction with many top biology
laboratories in the US (and eventually other countries).
Applicants for computational research positions must have a PhD in
computational biology (bioinformatics) or related fields such as
comparative or evolutionary biology, biophysics, biology,
machine learning, biostatistics, computer science, engineering,
genetics or physics.
However, creativity, advanced degree or other relevant prior experience
will also be considered as hiring criteria.
